This collection aims to honor the special people, places, and moʻolelo (stories) of Waimānalo. With captivating illustrations and engaging narratives in both ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi and English, these books are perfect for young readers and families alike. They provide a joyful way to learn about and connect with our beloved ʻāina (land) and community.
Hiʻohia Publishing sought out Waimānalo community members for each part of the book creation process. They asked for story writers, researchers, photographers, makeup artists, seamstresses, models, editors, and more to be included in the process. Waimānalo, you may see familiar names, faces, and places as you flip through the pages of these stories from the past.
