Biodiversity is inextricably linked to healthy ecosystem services and functions, and by extension public health, biosecurity, agriculture, and the economy. Invasive species threaten all of these if left unchecked. Being able to identify native and invasive species is one of the first steps to develop effective biosecurity protocols as these identifications will allow us to better understand invasive species threats and pathways while conserving native species. Researchers from the Malacology Department and the Pacific Center for Molecular Biodiversity at Bishop Museum have developed quick guides of some of the native and invasive land and freshwater snails (which includes slugs) that you may encounter in Hawaiʻi.
Please fill out the form below and you will then be sent the guide(s) you’ve requested via email.
