September 2021, Hawaiian Airlines presented the proceeds of their POW! WOW! Hawai’i 10th anniversary collection to support Bishop Museum arts education for Hawaii’s keiki. November 2020, Bishop Museum Press partnered with DTL Hawaii and Actions of Aloha to release a new deck of Actions of Aloha cards with 100% of the profits benefiting Bishop Museum. The deck featured 53 ʻŌlelo Noʻeau from Mary Kawena Pukui’s book, “ʻŌlelo Noʻeau: Hawaiian Proverbs & Poetical Sayings,” collected, translated, and annotated by Mary Kawena Pukui. With the support of the community and Actions of Aloha Bishop Museum received $10,000 to support Bishop Museum Press the mission of the Museum. It’s amazing what can be done when we work together!
March 2021, Bishop Museum presented a day of programming exploring one of the most urgent topics of today – sustainability, more specifically ocean conservation and preservation. As hospitality sponsor of this event Outrigger Resorts & Hotels shared their OZONE initiative and brought together partners such as All Good and visiting artist Ethan Estess to feature safe and socially distanced activities across our campus wide event. Science and Sustainability Festival is an annual Bishop Museum event featuring the Museum’s research, natural science collections and community partners. In 2021 partner organizations included those who are actively engaged in and hard at work with initiatives that promote awareness in the areas of ocean sustainability.

November 2021, Hawaiian Airlines Team Kōkua volunteered to refresh the sweet potato patch adjacent to Muriel Flanders Lawn, near Bishop Hall. Led by Bishop Museum Botany Specialist, Clyde Imada, Team Kōkua completely dug up the existing sweet potatoes that were overgrown and overdue to harvest (due to the pandemic), removed the invading lawn grass, re-mulched the soil, and re-planted with new ‘uala slips. Bishop Museum is grateful for our ongoing partnership with Hawaiian Airlines and to Team Kōkua for taking the time to mālama our Museum.
