Join us for an unforgettable day of cultural exchange and celebration at the 2025 Celebrate Micronesia Festival! Now in its annual tradition, this vibrant festival brings together Micronesian voices and communities from across the Pacific for a day of music, dance, art, food, and storytelling.
Hosted in partnership with the Pacific Islands Development Program at East-West Center, the Center for Pacific Islands Studies at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, and leaders from Micronesian communities across Hawai‘i, the event honors the rich traditions and contemporary expressions of the Republic of Palau, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guåhan (Guam), Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, Kiribati, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
Come and experience traditional weaving, poetry readings, contemporary fashion, cultural performances, food vendors, art displays, hands-on demos, educational booths, and a marketplace featuring local Micronesian artists and makers. Bring the whole ʻohana for a day of learning, sharing, and celebrating the stories that connect us across the Pacific.

“For years, we have been honored to collaborate with Micronesian community leaders, community partners, the University of Hawaiʻi Mānoa Center for Pacific Island Studies, and Bishop Museum to host the annual Celebrate Micronesia Festival. The Celebrate Micronesia Festival is held at Bishop Museum because it’s a perfect space to provide a safe location for celebration, for highlighting the best parts of our cultures, and for teaching people of Hawaiʻi about our cultures. As Micronesian migrants to Hawaiʻi like to say, ‘We come here not with empty hands waiting for a handout, we come with baskets filled with rich, life-affirming, life-generating values and customs that we want to share with the world.’ We thank Bishop Museum for giving us a platform to share those best aspects of our culture with the world. As we say in my island of Guam, I erensiå-ta nå’i lina’la’ i espiritu-ta. Our heritage gives life to our spirit.’ Si Yu’os ma’åse. Mahalo.” -Dr. Hattori
