Kalihi Ahupuaʻa Ride
Saturday, April 12, 2025
8:00 am – 2:00 pm
Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum is honored to welcome our Kalihi neighbors participating in the 2025 Kalihi Ahupuaʻa Ride. Coordinated by Kalihi Valley Instructional Bike Exchange (KVIBE), a project of Kōkua Kalihi Valley, Kalihi Ahupuaʻa Ride is a community bike ride from ma uka to ma kai across the ahupuaʻa and community of Kalihi. This eight-mile downhill ride is organized and led by youth, highlighting several “story stops” where riders learn about the cultural and historical significance of each place and its role in transforming the vibrant neighborhood over time. While providing a respite for pedaling participants, Museum staff will share moʻolelo honoring Kaiwiʻula, and our namesake Ke Aliʻi Bernice Pauahi Bishop, with emphasis on her commitment to education; a commitment that we endeavor to perpetuate daily through our work and our community relationships.
More than just a bike ride, Kalihi Ahupuaʻa Ride uplifts community spirit, creates access to health resources, celebrates the abundance of this ʻāina and instills a sense of pride in all who call Kalihi home.
