Mahalo for considering Bishop Museum for your event!  Bishop Museum is an exceptional fourteen acre site and an ideal setting for private or corporate events, from sit-down dinners and wedding receptions to corporate functions and cocktail parties.

Presenting world renowned collections of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts, art, film, manuscripts, photographs and documents, Bishop Museum adds a new dimension to your events and offers your guests the opportunity to explore these treasures.  The Museum is also home to the Jhamandas Watumull Planetarium and The Richard T. Mamiya Science Adventure Center.

The Great Lawn

The sky is the limit in planning a banquet for 400 or up to 4,000! This three-acre great lawn features a sweeping view of Downtown Honolulu as well as our majestic Hawaiian Hall. Nearby restrooms (only) in the Science Adventure Center is available for use during the event.

The Richard T. Mamiya
Science Adventure Center

Our newest addition to the Bishop Museum features element walls, walk-through lava tubes, wave tanks, collected specimens, and an erupting volcano. This interactive exhibit is perfect for large cocktail receptions with tables and chairs provided. Theatrical lighting adds magic to the evening; you must see it to believe it! The Great Lawn is also included to add more in-depth dimension to your one of a kind event.

Amy B.H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden
(Captain Cook, Hawai‘i Island)

Amy B.H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden

Located on the slopes of South Kona, the Garden is home to over 275 rare and unique species of plants.

Enjoy your special event in this relaxing, open-air setting where your guests may wander the Garden’s leafy paths and walk among ancient Hawaiian stone features. The Garden can accommodate events for up to 300.

Our newest rental location offers a beautiful and intimate site for entertaining guests. From elegant sit-down dinners, to a stylish and chic cocktail reception, this location is sure to impress. This breathtaking location offers your guest access to the newly restored Hawaiian Hall, Polynesian Hall, the Long Gallery, the Kahili Gallery, and the Picture Gallery.

Hale Ikehu

Hale Ikehu

Originally built as an “open” energy house by HECO, Hale Ikehu is set aside in a quiet, secluded garden setting. This is a great place to celebrate your more personal occasions, such as baby showers and birthdays. This great outdoor lanai is available from 7am-2pm or 3pm-10pm, daily (set up and breakdown time included) 5 tables and 50 chairs included.

Campus Event

You can celebrate your special event with all the trimmings under the magical moonlight here at the Bishop Museum. Our signature Great Lawn will showcase your entertainment and our ever popular Atherton Halau may serve as your headquarter and programming facilities.

Everyone will be able to discover the hidden treasures of Hawaii’s yesteryears, present and future through out the galleries; our interactive Richard Mamiya Science Adventure Center, Castle Memorial Building exhibit halls, our showcase Hawaiian Hall, Polynesian Hall, The Abigail Kinoiki Kekaulike Kahili Room, the Charles M. Long Gallery, and the mystery of our universe in the limited presentations at the Planetarium. Plan to be amazed at how unique your experience will become as part of our Hawaiian legacy.

These private, air-conditioned conference rooms with limited tables and chairs will allow for a theatre style set up to accommodate up to 45 guests, a hollow square setup for 30 guests, and a classroom set up for 20 participants. 

The Pākī Rooms will easily lend itself for slide and overhead presentations for an additional fee for your next meeting. 

Both rooms are conveniently located just steps away from the parking lot.

$75/hr (Minimum 3 hours or $400/day)

This beautiful lawn area fronts our Castle Memorial Building and historic Bishop Hall. It is an exceptional place to host a wedding surrounded by some of the beauties of Hawaii . . . our tropical flowers and gardens.

Atherton Hālau & The Hale Wa‘a

Our most popular rental facility, the open air Atherton Halau can be utilized for meetings, dinners, and receptions. An adjacent private landscaped area, terraced lanai and A-framed structure (Hale Wa’a – Canoe House) is included for additional seating and planned activities. Events can be held from 7am-2pm or 3pm-10pm (client set up and breakdown time included). This dual facility is equipped with the following complimentary features:

Gallery Lawns

Prepare your guests for an exciting evening at the Bishop Museum by providing a delightful setting overlooking the city lights of downtown Honolulu. The majestic Hawaiian Hall and the lush tropical foliage bordering the Gallery Lawn, highlighted by a towering Pandanus tree, lend a distinctive Hawaiian-style to this very special lawn setting. It’s a perfect site for cocktail events hosting 30 to 300 persons.
