For more than a century, Bishop Museum has preserved and cared for the rich history of Hawai‘i and the Pacific. Today, Bishop Museum houses more than 24 million objects— cultural treasures, works of art, priceless oral histories, and rare specimens of plants and animals that exist nowhere else on earth— representing the extraordinary natural and cultural history of Hawai‘i and the Pacific. Museum scientists are leaders in their field, building on over one hundred years of scholarship, from groundbreaking archaeological finds in China to the discovery of hundreds of new species in Papua New Guinea. Through superb exhibits, innovative educational programs, lectures, workshops, and outreach into our community, we share these stories with over 400,000 people each year, including nearly 65,000 schoolchildren.
