November sees Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole’s storied 40-foot racing canoe, the Aʻa, return to the ocean for the first time in more than a decade. All are welcome to Hoʻi i ke Kai: Launch of the Aʻa which will take place at Keʻehi Lagoon at sunrise on Nov. 8, 2025. Also in November, Bishop Museum celebrates Lā Kūʻokoʻa, the Independence Day of the Hawaiian Kingdom.

Bishop Museum, the State of Hawai‘i Museum of Natural and Cultural History, invites the community to a free event celebrating Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole’s storied 40-foot racing canoe, and its return to water for the first time in more than a decade.

Bishop Museum, the State of Hawai‘i Museum of Natural and Cultural History, recently welcomed Hawaiian land snails believed to be the last known surviving representatives of its genus.

Bishop Museum, the State of Hawai‘i Museum of Natural and Cultural History, in collaboration with San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance (SDZWA), announces a landmark partnership to expand biobanking capacity in Hawai’i and across the Pacific to protect the islands’ unique biodiversity and cultural heritage.

Bishop Museum, the State of Hawai‘i Museum of Natural and Cultural History, is launching its Fall Annual Fund Campaign. From Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, 2025, #HawaiisMuseum asks for the community’s financial support of its staff and their critical work: exploring, celebrating, and perpetuating the extraordinary history, culture, and environment of Hawaiʻi and the Pacific.

October sees the return of our annual Kāhuli Festival, offering an opportunity to learn about, celebrate, and reconnect with the rich biocultural heritage of Hawaiʻi through the lens of our endangered Hawaiian land snails and other native species.
